Dedicated To Our Veterans In Honor Of Their Service To Our Country: Lest We Forget!

Museum News: Plans are being made to increase display space and a future goal is to go beyond the "Old Rock Building" so that a small collection of military vehicles would be available for visitor viewing. We are looking for that space. The museum continues to be open every Saturday from 10:00 to 3:00 or by appointment. Group tours are always welcome by appointment. There will be someone present to point out the interesting artifacts and to answer questions. If you have not seen the beautiful military artwork on the walls donated by local artists Jim and Donna Juras or the lovely stained glass window donated by Sandra Nelson, you have not visited for a while. Newly acquired military artifacts have been added. These include a small section dedicated to the Spanish American War.

Board of Directors: Many of you have read the local newspaper about the recent resignations of 3 members. If you, or anyone you know, has an interest in military history or anything veteran related, please call the new president Jon Busch at 864-638-8558 or any other board member. Meetings are at 5:30 the last Thursday of the month at the museum. Along with Jon, current members are Rocky Anderson, Charlie and Joyce Brickett, George Doyle, Vie Hart, Don Story Tom and Barbara Yates.

Walk of Honor: We hope to place an order soon because only 4 more bricks are needed. The space between the sidewalk and the curb on Short Street is almost full. Stop by the museum on a Saturday or fill out the form on the web site …

Vet Fest: This annual motorcycle event was held on a beautiful day last Saturday. The Post Bar on route 11 in Oconee County was the host. It was both the start and the ending location. There were three other stops. This event was a successful fund raiser for Patriots' Hall. We would like to thank the participants, the sponsors, the volunteers, and those that made donations. Without your participation, this event would not be possible.

Memorial Day: Plans are proceeding to involve the students in the county-wide ceremony. Patriots' Hall will again partner with the Oconee County School District and the Office of Veterans' Affairs. Please attend the ceremony and support both the students and all veterans. It will take place at the Walhalla Civic Auditorium. Watch your newspaper for additional information.

Membership: It is time once again to renew your PHA membership. Please check your membership card to see if it is valid through February 2014. If not, fill out and return the form below, along with your fees. The membership fees help Patriots' Hall Association move ahead with the goal to continue to honor all veterans and to provide a military museum Oconee County can be proud of.

Fill out the membership form, print it and send it in.
